Frequently asked questions about working with documents
Quick answers to questions about creating, saving, sharing and editing documents in Euro-Office.
Do I need to save manually?
No. Euro-Office saves everything automatically. Use the Save button or Ctrl + S to record your latest change straight away. See Saving: how automatic saving works.
Why do I see the old version when I download the file?
The file in Nextcloud is fully updated once everyone has closed the document. Close the document, wait a moment and download it again. Or choose File and Download as in the editor. See You don't see your changes when you download the file or open it on your computer.
Does a Word file stay a Word file?
Yes. A docx stays a docx, an xlsx stays an xlsx and a pptx stays a pptx. Colleagues with Microsoft Office can simply open the file. See Opening an existing Word, Excel or PowerPoint file.
How do I make a PDF of my document?
Choose File, Download as and then PDF. If you want to keep the PDF in your Nextcloud, choose Save copy as instead. See Printing and saving as PDF and Download as docx, xlsx, pptx, odt or pdf.
Can several people work in one document at the same time?
Yes. You see each other's changes straight away, and you can add comments and chat within the document. See Working on a document at the same time.
Can I restore an older version?
Yes. Nextcloud automatically keeps older versions of your files. See Version History: restoring an older version.
Can I share a document with someone who doesn't use Nextcloud?
Yes, with a public link. You decide whether the other person can only read it or can edit it too. See Creating a public link (view or edit) and Sharing with someone outside your organisation.
Do my Excel macros work?
VBA macros from Excel won't work. The file will still open, with all your data and formulas intact. In Euro-Office, you create macros in JavaScript instead. See An Excel file with VBA macros: what now?.
Can I just type =SUM and =VLOOKUP?
Yes. In your WebOké Nextcloud, Euro-Office uses the standard English function names and commas, just like the English version of Excel. See Copying formulas from Excel: English function names and the comma.
Can I fill in a PDF form?
Yes. Click in a field and type; press Tab to move to the next field. See Filling in a PDF form.
Where can I find all the keyboard shortcuts?
In Handy keyboard shortcuts for all editors and the articles for each editor. In Euro-Office itself, you'll find them under File, Advanced settings, Keyboard Shortcuts.
